Prom
Every year, I – along with a growing group of friends – join Alaska Airlines’ Prom Princess Program volunteers in Sitka, Alaska to get boarding school students ready for their prom.
The Program was started several years ago by a woman named Terry Bogren who was helping her niece get ready for her prom in her dorm. When Terry asked her niece’s dorm mate why she wasn’t getting ready, she sadly told her that she wasn’t going because she didn’t have anything to wear. The following year, Terry took it upon herself to send out an all-staff call-to-action to Alaska Airlines employees to donate their unused formal gowns. Terry then freighted the gowns up to Mount Edgecumbe Highschool and distributed them to kids to borrow for the night. During her initial trip, she found that they could use even more help throwing these rural Alaskan kids the best prom possible. The movement caught on and now the Program is up to 50 volunteers who fly to Sitka annually and prep corsages, bouttonieres, decorations, manicures, makeup, updos, and even an on-site tailor who gets tuxes and gowns custom-fitted.

Special Effects
Special FX is where I REALLY have fun because I get to flex all of my creative muscles!
She wanted to be an Avatar for a Halloween party so I made it so!

I’m my own model on this one. Mad Hatter Halloween costume and makeup inspired by the remake of the classic Alice in Wonderland.

Alice: I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”
